Keep in mind that lots of guitar instructors are willing to travel to their students' houses. Be careful not to make your zip code search too narrow!

Education/Training: High School Diploma: Dighton-Rehoboth Regional High School 2003-2007 Associates in Jazz Studies: Community College of Rhode Island Associates in General Studies: Community College of Rhode Island I have been taking private lessons since I first took up the instrument. I have only studied with two different teachers both completely different types of guitarists.
Influences: My dad who is a great drummer. He got me listening to great music at such an early age I cannot thank him enough. Terry Kath, who was the late original guitarist for Chicago. When I first heard him I got chills down my spine!! He has always been my favorite all time guitarist. There are so many but to name a few: Steely Dan, Steve Khan, Larry Carlton, Wes Montgomery, Miles Davis, Wayne Shorter, Steve Gadd, Brecker Brothers, James taylor and many many more
Favorite Style/Genre: Jazz, Rock/Pop, Country and Blues
Instruments Played: Electric Guitar, Acoustic Guitar, Bass, Piano, Drum Set and other Percussion
Greatest Strength: My strengths are my Traditional and Jazz Theory. From knowing my theory and harmony, I do feel I improvise well. I am a versatile player. You have to know the approach to each style. Not every rock player can dive into the Jazz idiom, nor could every Jazz player dive into the rock idiom. But it is certainly easier for the 2nd situation to happen. Because most jazz players know their theory and know their instrument in ways an average rock/blues player does not. There are exceptions, however!
Instruments Taught: Electric and Acoustic Guitar and beginning Bass Guitar
Age Groups Taught: Ages 6 and Up
Lesson Location: I teach from my home as well as travel to my students houses. Or I can give lessons at my school in a sound proof practice room. CCRI is located in Warwick, RI.
Teaching Philosophy: I really try to get a strong feel for each students personality, influences and what goals they desire to accomplish. Private lessons can easily feel like work and not fun learning how to create music. Having that always in the back of my mind, I keep my lessons fun and interesting! We work from books that have some "boring" songs in them. Which is why I always have my students being me or ask me to bring them songs they want to learn to play. Teaching method does vary with children to adult students! If you would like more info on my lesson plans, etc Contact Me
Cancellation Policy: Cancellations must be made 24 hours before scheduled lesson. Otherwise the missed lesson will still need to be paid for. If a lesson is cancelled 24 hours before, we will set up a date for a make up. If I cancel a lesson we will schedule a make up as well.
Lesson Cost: House Calls: $35 for a Forty-Five Minute Lesson $45 for a One Hour Lesson *I do not do 30 minute lessons for house calls. It is not worth my time driving for a 30 minute lesson.*
Payment Method/Schedule: Cash, Personal Check, Cashiers Check, or a Money Order. Payments are made on the first lesson of each month for the upcoming month of lessons. If you are paying cash, payments can be weekly. Check or money order payments must be fore the full amount on the first lesson of each month.
